Description

Behold the spectacular side view of Active Region 4173! Watch as magnetic field lines twist and turn while Coronal Rain falls down into the solar surface. Next to all these dancing field lines is the very Active Region (4173) throwing up all kinds of plasma loops. 🎥 Full solar telescope setup & capture process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVXYaBNYRNA What made this event special is what happened afterward. A huge, incredibly bright hot spot (black in the video, but naturally white) stayed anchored to the limb for several minutes, so bright it even saturated my camera. The plasma seemed to dance and swirl before finally fading away. This kind of event is often associated with solar flares and magnetic reconnection, where energy is explosively released from the Sun’s magnetic field. The speed of this footage is around 300x compared to real time. The sound is made out of audio clips from NASA's Parker Probe that recorded parts of the solar wind. #sunspots #solarflare #telescope #astrophotography #solarsystem #sunobservation #timelapse #spacefacts
