Houthis declare Israeli-linked vessels military targets in Red Sea

Yemen’s Houthis announced on Monday a complete ban on Israeli maritime navigation in the Red Sea, warning that any Israeli-linked vessel movement in the waterway will be treated as a military target. In a video statement, military spokesperson Yahya Saree said “the Yemeni armed forces launched a missile barrage targeting sensitive Israeli enemy targets in the occupied Yaffa region” in response to Israel’s attacks on Lebanon, Iran and Gaza. The Houthis’ announcement comes as Israel and Iran exchanged fire over the weekend after Israel struck Beirut’s southern suburbs, which Iran had previously warned Israel against.
