Prince William Wins Royal Charity Polo Cup as Kate Presents Trophy

Princess Kate cheered Prince William to victory as he competed in a sweltering charity polo match near Windsor. The Prince of Wales took to the field at Guards Polo Club for his 15th appearance in the Royal Charity Polo Cup, playing alongside professional players and keen amateurs as temperatures approached 30C. William, who is left-handed but must hold his polo mallet in his right hand, played in his usual defensive position of number four as his US Polo Association team claimed victory. The Princess of Wales watched from the sidelines in a gingham dress and sunglasses before presenting William and his teammates with the winning cup. The royal couple were later seen walking back across the pitch hand in hand, with Windsor Castle visible in the distance. The event raised £1.05 million for charity, taking the Royal Charity Polo Cup’s overall fundraising total to more than £15 million. Beneficiaries included Wales Air Ambulance, the Royal College of Paramedics, crisis text service Shout and the Maternal Mental Health Alliance.
