Proof of this was the early development of what would be the predecessors of modern amphibious vehicle models, which appeared as truly peculiar proposals intended to overcome aquatic obstacles aboard a heavy transport truck. From this stage emerge the same REO M34 trucks, designed and manufactured to withstand conditions for which no truck had previously been conceived. With outstanding qualities and relatively simple modifications, this model was capable of becoming a mini-submarine, representing a significant advance in what we now know as amphibious vehicles.
