What are You Saying?

This was late in the afternoon of the 15 week and once again Marcel seems to be trying to talk & this time he sounds a little bit better than he has in the past week or so and in fact,he has avoided making vocal type noises for most of the past week for whatever reason although,as stated,he has been better today albeit a little bit difficult to decipher what he is saying/trying to say most times with it being more of a mumble and this is no doubt the result of spending less & less time around people which has been the primary goal of the two adult birds that I have always considered to be parents.I have yet to see any other young Ravens in the immediate area with both birds seeming to occasionally split their time with Marcel other times both birds are there & after week 2/3 I would throw bread out for the adults which they would take,at times taking straight to the original nest that they occupied & from which Marcel was jettisoned,on these occasions sounds similar to those made by Marcel when being fed by a parent as well as myself could be heard emanating from the vicinity of the nest.This nest is now empty with the pair of Ravens moving several doors down to another nest high up in a large tree of a similar type. Marcel was found on the ground in the last week of July following a very stormy night,after ringing a few places i was instructed to take him to specific vet surgery where i was advised that he was a raven,healthy,unlikely to have fallen to ground & he was a fledgling & " should be returned to where he was found his parents will look after him ". unfortunately this was not the case and it was 4 or 5 days before the parents came near him,he also had a talon missing from a rear toe that became quite swollen & infected in the weeks that followed needing treatment,it was paw paw ointment that cleared it up after having no success with other conventional treatments.Although the only sure fire way to accurately identify the gender of a raven is by blood/dna test Marcel has been declared a male for a number of reasons with the primary one coming from my 15 yr old daughter who has declared that " that bird has to be a male.because its just so annoying " fortunately she avoids Marcel otherwise he might think his name is/was " stupid bird " admittedly the poor kid was swooped by a maggie as a five year old & it appears that it has left her quite scarred.
