Description
This is an iceberg in Antarctica with a blowhole in the top. As we approached Cape Adare, we saw a huge eruption coming from this iceberg. Initially we thought it much have been a huge whale, probably a blue whale either in front of or behind the berg making it look as though it was coming directly from the ice.
However, as we got closer, we noticed that the blow was coming from a single spot and wasn’t moving. The sea was so calm that we initially disregarded the idea of a blowhole because there wasn’t enough swell to produce it.
But it was soon very evident that this iceberg had a hole in it, and that was exactly where this water was shooting out from- just like a geyser. No one on board had ever seen anything like it. It was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.
