Description
Odyssey is an American disco/soul group known for their smooth fusion of R&B, funk, and dance music during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Originally formed in New York, the group first found international success with their 1977 hit "Native New Yorker," a soulful, sax-driven anthem celebrating urban life (watch it on our Channel). In 1980, they achieved their biggest chart success with "Use It Up and Wear It Out". It peaked at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart but did not enter the US Billboard Hot 100. However it did reach No. 6 on the US Billboard Disco Top 100 chart. In the Netherlands, the single climbed to No. 2, in Belgium, peaking at No. 5. Another standout track, "Going Back to My Roots," released in 1981, became a club classic. This performance was recorded by the TROS TV program TROS Top 50 on August 14, 1980.
