Description
Three Oriental turtle doves (aka Eastern turtle dove or rufous turtle dove; Streptopelia orientalis, family Columbidae) in a loose flock foraging for food around the deserted sett of Japanese badger (Meles anakuma, family Mustelidae) in the defoliated secondary forest. You can occasionally see one flicking the leaf litter with the beak to look for hidden critters and seeds. Captured with my new trailcam in the sunny early-afternoon (around 13:15 PM) of mid-November 2024 in Japan. It was 12 degrees Celsius.
