The grass was getting so tall it was starting to swallow the curb line, the front sidewalk was almost hidden, and there was trash scattered around like people had started treating it like a dumping spot. I was gonna walk up and knock on the door, but right there on the mailbox it said the address was currently vacant and not to leave mail. Luckily the neighbors right across the street were outside, so I went over and asked if they knew what was going on. They told me nobody’s really lived there since last year, and since then nobody has been by to cut it. Apparently people have been dropping stuff off out front too, even a mattress that just sat there for a while. So at that point, I figured the best thing I could do was clean it up and make it look like someone actually cares again, because a yard that looks maintained tends to make people think twice before they toss anything else there. So, I started by getting the edges back, opening up the curb line, and clearing the sidewalk and driveway so you could actually see the property again. After that, I knocked down all the overgrowth and cleaned up the junk around the house.
