Mike Tyson Vs Buster Douglas, Huge Knockout, Biggest Upset In Heavyweight Boxing, All Highlights

When Mike Tyson faced James Buster Douglas in 1990, Nobody could have predicted the outcome. Tyson was a 42 to 1 favourite to win and was considered unbeatable at this time in his career. Buster Douglas was not really given any chance of winning, with most fight experts predicting an early win for Tyson. Prior to the fight, Tyson declared himself to be " The Baddest Man On The Planet" and seemed to be overconfident, even arrogant before coming into this fight Another big factor was Tyson having abandoned his original training camp and Managers, which seemed to have also had an effect on Tyson's attitude prior to the fight. From the opening bell of round 1 both fighter were throwing wild heavy punches, Tyson was moving in fast loading up on stiff short jabs, trying to get close enough to launch his devastating uppercut. Douglas was not holding back, and the 2 men kept trading heavy blows through the early rounds with Douglas getting the better of the exchanges and amazingly moving faster than Tyson. Douglas started to catch Mike with some huge right crosses, stiff jabs and the occasional heavy uppercut, and we could now see Tyson's left eye swelling up. As we moved into the middle rounds, Douglas continued to get the better of Mike, as Tyson reverted to simply plodding forward with his hands held up, just hoping to get inside to use his uppercut to end the fight quickly. Douglas rattled Tyson with a huge combination of heavy punches that saw Tyson fall back onto the ropes. Mike recovered but looked tired and beaten. As we approached the final rounds, Mike and James stood toe to toe throwing massive punches. As Douglas moved forward, hands slightly dropped, Tyson caught Douglas with his classic Fight ending uppercut. It looked like Douglas wouldn't make the count, as he staggered to his feet, just beating the ten count. Douglas showed heart and courage to continue the fight. Amazingly, Douglas seemed to have found his second wind and was pounding Mike from all angles. Both of Mike's eyes were swollen with the right eye almost closed. Mike was in survival Mode and was barely able to fend off Buster's clubbing punches. Mike to his credit, kept trading blows with Douglas, hoping to get in that one lucky punch but by now Tyson was reduced to a slow moving Punching bag, with Douglas connecting on Mike with almost every punch. Douglas caught Mike with a devastating uppercut, followed by huge crushing left and right crosses. Tyson, eyes now swollen like balloons, hit the canvas and could barely Move. Mike staggered about on the canvas trying to put his mouthguard back in his mouth, whilst grabbing the lower ring ropes and trying to get to his feet. The ref raced over to Mike waving his hands to end the fight. A battered and bruised Mike Tyson literally collapsed into the refs arms, as James Buster Douglas The new Undisputed Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the world, raised his arms in triumph.
