But when director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra was casting the film, he had a very different lineup in mind. Mehra first wanted Farhan Akhtar, and then even Hrithik Roshan. And the biggest surprise? For R. Madhavan’s character, his first choice was none other than Shah Rukh Khan. This was massive news for fans, as audiences had been waiting to see Aamir and SRK together since the 90s. Sadly, this collaboration never happened, and there are multiple versions of why—from the director’s account to the juicy stories published in gossip magazines. Whatever the real reason, this dream collaboration never materialised, leaving fans quite disappointed. Honestly, even today, one can’t help but wonder what if SRK had delivered that iconic dialogue, “Koi Bhi Desh Perfect Nahin Hota”? The impact would have been something else altogether.
