The same institution that was created to keep a check on government corruption now seems to be living in royal luxury. Meanwhile, five complaints have been filed against Prime Minister Modi, but not one has led to any visible action. In contrast, the Lokpal has been swift when it comes to opposition leaders like Mahua Moitra and Shibu Soren. Once a movement born out of the fight against corruption, the Lokpal now stands accused of being silent, selective, and submissive to power.
