Al-Attiayah still has a way to go to catch Stephane Peterhansel who holds the all-time record with 14 Dakar wins.  After an awful start, Sébastien Loeb finished in second place. Kevin Benavides won the final Stage to top the bike category by just 43 seconds… an incredibly slim margin of victory after over 44 hours of riding.   Alexandre Giroud won on the Quads for Yamaha Racing, with over 56 hours in the saddle.   Austin “A.J.” Jones of the USA took the win in the lightweight division...   While in the mighty trucks, overall victory went to Janus Van Kastren of the Netherlands. For our hosts Audi, in the RS Q e-tron - one of the most radical racing cars ever made - it was a hard luck story. The desert had taken its toll. Punctures, broken suspension and a few hard landings meant just one of the team’s three cars made it to the finish Audi entered 3 cars, Sadly for them, after being hot favourites coming into the race, only 1 car finished the race, after both Stéphane Peterhansel and Edouard Boulanger together with Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz, spectacularly crashed out.  Mattias Ekström and co-driver Emil Bergkvist came second in the last stage and finished a respectable 13 place overall.
