Ever since Guillermo Del Toro dropped his rendition of Frankenstein last year, we have all been looking forward to Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Bride. The film not only promised to offer a bold new take on the classic Frankenstein story but also turned this strange premise into an emotional love story. In my humble opinion, there has been only one monster in literature or cinema who is as eerily romantic as the one born from Mary Shelley’s iconic and timeless 1818 novel, Frankenstein. Initially it seemed to be a cautionary tale about hubris but eventually ended up being something far more haunting.
