Montreal's streets are "catastrophic" from potholes

Montreal is arguably as famous for its rutted roadways as it is for its delicious bagels. Dodging craters in the pockmarked pavement requires the dexterity of a Gilles Villeneuve behind the wheel. But this year has been particularly rough. More than 4,200 complaints have been lodged so far with the city’s 311 service — a record. After spending the previous few days lamenting the “catastrophic” state of city streets, Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada hit a monster cavity on her way home Monday night and blew two tires.
