Description

#gridsparta #bikies #comancheromc A former New Zealand Lotto presenter and well known entertainer has admitted laundering drug money for a global syndicate linked to the Comancheros Motorcycle Club. Russell Harrison pleaded guilty in the High Court at Auckland to one charge of money laundering after travelling to Turkey with six 1 kg gold bullion bars allegedly destined for Comancheros International Commander Duax "Dax" Ngakuru. His identity can now be revealed after his interim name suppression lapsed. The offending dates back to 2019 when Harrison received $420,000 in cash, identified as drug proceeds. He kept a $4,000 payment for himself and used the remaining $416,000 to purchase six gold bars before flying to Turkey. Customs officers discovered the gold during a search at the airport, and investigators later alleged he delivered it to Ngakuru after arriving overseas. Harrison was arrested in 2021 during Operation Trojan Shield, the global FBI led sting that used the encrypted ANoM messaging platform to infiltrate organised crime networks. The operation resulted in hundreds of arrests worldwide and exposed alleged Comancheros linked drug trafficking and money laundering activities across several countries. Three other men have also admitted their roles in the syndicate, including Comancheros Bay of Plenty president Pomare Pirini, who pleaded guilty to laundering more than $1 million in drug proceeds, and Carlo Gear, who admitted conspiring to import 1.5 tonnes of cocaine. Harrison faces a maximum penalty of seven years' imprisonment and is due to be sentenced in August.
