But do muddy trails and snowy roads really require the same features from a tire? In our experience, they do not. Mud tires like the Nitto Mud Grappler and Trail Grappler with large lugs and huge voids are great for propelling you forward as they spin through loose terrain, but if you spin your tires on icy roads you are likely to find yourself in a ditch. All-terrain and all-season tires like the Nitto Terra Grappler G3 and Motivo 365 are Three Peak Mountain Snowflake rated, a more modern designation than M+S that requires actual testing from the National Highway Traffic Administration to achieve.
