Carney comments on gun control in wake of Montreal shootings

PolySeSouvient, a prominent Montreal gun control advocacy group, is demanding a ban on the SKS assault rifle it says was used by the gunman in Monday’s shootout in Côte-des-Neiges. In a press conference Thursday morning, Prime Minister Mark Carney said: “Regarding the SKS, the investigation is in progress,” and “it is not for me to confirm details of the investigation.” Regarding a potential ban on SKS and other assault rifles, Carney said: “We are currently reforming this process in order to have decisions made by experts, that is the RCMP, to determine which ones we have to prohibit.
