Waiting for Adam in Milan, Italy

Ieri sera ero tra i giornalisti che attendevano l’arrivo di un volo umanitario con a bordo Adam, sua madre e altri bambini in fuga da Gaza. Non sono un reporter, ma ho sentito il bisogno di esserci, di osservare, e di documentare quel momento con qualche immagine e qualche parola, anche se non perfette. Nel video che condivido c’è la mia attesa, ci sono i volti di chi era lì e una breve conversazione con la giornalista tedesca Lea Frehse che mi ha raccontato ciò che ha visto e sentito in questi giorni. Non aggiungo altro, se non l’invito ad guardare e ascoltare con attenzione. A volte, basta poco per capire quanto sia importante non restare indifferenti. I’m not a reporter, but I felt the need to be there — to witness, to observe, and to capture that moment through a few images and words, even if imperfect. The video I’m sharing holds that wait, the faces of those present, and a brief conversation with a German journalist who told me what she had seen and heard over the past few days. I won’t add much more, except an invitation to watch and listen carefully. Sometimes, it takes very little to understand why we can’t remain indifferent.
