Ranked Race online - Round 1
Event: Group C Legends Cup
Car: Jaguar XJR-9
Track: Nürburgring Nordschleife 24 Hours
This is the first round of the Group C Legends Cup Event which takes place at Nürburgring Nordschleife 24 Hours Circuit.
I find that it is an enormous challenge to tune my Jaguar XJR-9 for the mammoth 24-hour Nordschleife track. Why? Mainly because there is limited suspension settings options for a race car that was certainly cutting-edge around 40 years ago. A lot of trial-and-error experimentation went into discovering a somewhat effective spring setup that can handle the rigors of the downhill and uphill bumps that Nordschleife throws at you. So it's not surprising for me to admit there was indeed crash testing that went on during Qualifying session.
The race started okay, although I moved kind of slow off the grid in the hope to avoid potential carnage. My pace was unfortunately well off the leaders. I tried to make up some ground and somehow reduce the gap and push harder. But in doing this, I made a critical and costly mistake at the fast uphill section of this circuit that led to a major accident! What's worse for me -- aside from the obvious bodywork damage -- is that steering on my XJR-9 was also damaged so severely from this crash, that my XJR-9 veered far off-center and left undriveable at its current condition. The steering problem is a major setback that absolutely had to get fixed as soon as possible! Ah well... at least I had a legit excuse to see how a pit stop works at this circuit. 🤦♀️
