Marking the Year of the Red Horse, Jeju Province will invest 8.9 billion won across 38 projects for the sustainable horse industry. To raise the value of Jeju-bred horses, the province plans to install a public horse training facility to support high-quality horse production and training. The province will invest 1 billion won to renovate Jeju National University’s public riding center, aiming to host equestrian events during the National Sports Festival. In addition, Jeju plans to expand festivals and experiential tours to promote Jeju’s unique horse culture, including the Jeju Horse Festival and events commemorating Jeju’s heroic horse ‘Reckless.’ 말산업 특구·승마 활성화 정책 지속적 추진 제주특별자치도가 붉은 말의 해를 맞아 지속가능한 말산업 실현을 위해 38개 사업에 89억 원을 투자합니다. 제주산 말의 가치를 높이기 위해 고품질 마필 생산과 체계적인 조련을 지원하는 공공형 말 조련시설 설치 등 말산업 특구 사업을 추진합니다. 특히 전국체전 승마대회 유치를 목표로 제주대학교 공공승마장 개보수에 10억 원을 투자하는 등 승마 인구 확대와 활성화 정책도 지속적으로 전개합니다. 이와함께 제주마 축제와 레클리스 기념행사 등 제주만의 독특한 말 문화를 알리기 위한 축제와 배움여행을 확대 운영할 계획입니다.
