The Manchester Murder Witnessed by Children

In September 2015, Nicola McKenzie drove through the Moss Side area of Manchester and stopped outside the home of her ex-partner, Oral Bryan. When she saw a car she believed belonged to his new girlfriend, Nicola confronted the woman while several children looked on. The argument quickly escalated, and Bryan arrived carrying a hockey stick. In a sudden burst of violence, he struck Nicola in the head with an axe-like swing, knocking her unconscious onto the pavement. As she lay bleeding, Bryan briefly tried to revive her but soon fled the scene in panic. Several children, including Nicola’s own, witnessed the entire attack. Nicola was rushed to the hospital with devastating brain injuries and never regained consciousness. Bryan later turned himself in and claimed he was defending himself, but no weapon was ever found.
