Merrie Monarch travelers warned: Don’t take ‘ōhi’a off Big Island

The Hawaii Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity is reminding festival attendees that ‘ōhi’a plants and plant parts can’t be taken off Hawaii Island due to quarantine restrictions aimed at preventing the spread of rapid ‘ōhi’a death, a fungal disease that has killed over one million native trees.
