Hansda Sowvendra Shekhar’s “Eating with the Enemy”

This lecture discusses the role of marginalised narratives in Indian Writing in English through Hansda Sowvendra Shekhar’s short story “Eating with the Enemy”. It situates the precarious and vulnerable situation of women within the caste system, which has its own hierarchical dynamics, while shedding light on the continuous struggles of women to better their lives within the short leash offered to them, leading to the formation of unlikely bonds between them.
