According to family members and local sources, Monirul Islam was serving in the Indian Army and had recently been posted in Ladakh. About two months ago, he had returned to duty after spending leave at home. Last Friday afternoon, he suddenly fell ill while on duty. Army sources said that after suffering a heart attack, he was quickly taken to an army hospital. Despite the doctors’ best efforts, he could not be saved and passed away there. The news of Monirul’s death reached his home in Raninagar on Friday, plunging the area into deep mourning. Upon learning that his body would be brought back to the village on Sunday morning, local residents began gathering along the roads from early dawn. The soldier’s mortal remains were brought to the village in an army vehicle in the presence of military officials. The coffin was wrapped in the national flag. Villagers gathered in large numbers to catch a final glimpse of their beloved son.
