McLaren CEO Zak Brown on Building a Dominant Racing Dynasty

McLaren CEO Zak Brown looked relaxed as he stepped on stage in Abu Dhabi at the TIME100 Impact Awards ahead of the Grand Prix, the final destination of the Formula 1 season. And for once, he could be. It was here last year that McLaren’s title win over Ferrari went down to a nerve-shredding final lap. This season however, McLaren has been so dominant that it locked up its second straight title long before the final race began. “We've had a fantastic season,” he told the crowd. Brown received a TIME100 Impact Award on Dec. 5 in recognition of his achievements in motorsports, presented by double Formula 1 champion Mika Häkkinen. “This is very cool being presented an award by one of my heroes growing up,” Brown said. Others who joined Brown in receiving recognition for their work in the space included entrepreneur Kate Kallot, investor and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, and Authentic Brands Group founder Jamie Salter.
