This performance is a wonderful tribute to Neil Peart and the legacy of Rush. But what stood out to me wasn’t just the notes — it was the musical control behind the playing. In this video I break down several technical elements that make this performance so impressive: • smooth transitions between time feels • dynamic control in the 16th-note sections • powerful accents in the big 8th-note groove • clean right-hand technique Her right-hand motion actually reminds me of something drummers know well — Moeller technique — which I compare to the “paint the fence” motion Mr. Miyagi teaches in The Karate Kid (1984). That relaxed whip motion is what allows drummers to generate power without tension.
