Description
On Sunday 2nd November 2025, just over two years since the first DM locomotives built for service with KiwiRail arrived into New Zealand, DM's 8035 & 8064 arrived at Lyttelton port in Christchurch. Both were unloaded for towing to Middleton behind now in service DM 8029, where they will begin commissioning for service. This was the first time ever that 3 DM locomotives have been coupled together, at least on New Zealand soil. Interesting to note that the third & sixth locomotives in numerical order arrived together, presumably numbers 4 & 5 (possibly 8041 & 8058) are still on the way for either North or South Island use. As more DM locomotives arrive, change is now on the horizon as the older fleet of DC, DFB & DX locomotives will start to eventually be phase out, enjoy!
