What’s this little hand gesture Catholics do during Mass? Well, the timing is important. Right after the Gospel is announced, we trace a small cross onto our forehead, lips, and heart. We do this so that we may contemplate the Gospel in our mind, proclaim it with our mouth, and nurture it in our heart. After this, a passage from the life of Christ is read as the congregation stands in attention.
