There are now 80 machines for every human online

Non-human identities, from bots to AI agents to Internet of Things devices, now massively outnumber people online. Many of these NHIs have authorization to carry out tasks on behalf of human users. But has security kept up with the pace of these new capabilities? Helmut Reisinger of @paloaltontwks discusses the challenge. In the Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2026, 87% of leaders surveyed identified AI-related vulnerabilities as the fastest-growing cyber risk.
