A government plan to reduce prison overcrowding has triggered a fierce debate after victims of serious sexual offences were told that some offenders could be released earlier than expected. David Lammy stood in for Sir Keir Starmer at Prime Minister's Questions today and faced Shadow Housing Secretary, James Cleverly. Mr Lammy declined to apologise to victims of rapists and paedophiles three times, and instead blamed the Conservatives for closing prisons.
