Rare Mountain Gorilla Twins Born at Virunga — For the Second Time This Year

Just two months after welcoming an extremely rare set of mountain gorilla twins at the start of 2026, another family in the same park has done the same. The new pair of twins — believed to be one female and one male — has been born to a mother in the Baraka family at Virunga National Park, in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. This "exceptionally rare event" follows the arrival of twins in the Bageni family back in January 2026.
