The jury in the Hayden Tasker murder trial has heard starkly different versions of what happened before Senior Sergeant Lyn Fleming was killed in Nelson on New Year’s Eve. The Crown says Tasker deliberately used his car as a weapon against police officers. But the defence argues the then 31-year-old was drunk, suicidal and trying to kill himself, not anyone else. Jurors heard emotional closing arguments today, as police officers who investigated the death of one of their own sat alongside Fleming’s family in court.
