That means blood circulation to the baby will be affected, and that happens gradually. Usually, whenever there is an increased level of bile acids, suddenly on and off, there will be a spasm in the blood vessels in the placenta, which, on and off, cuts down the blood circulation to the foetus. Thereby reducing the growth rate.
