Description

The automatic movement CRMA1, standing for Calibre Richard Mille Automatique 1, developed especially for the RM 037, represents the first in-house construction by Richard Mille, following an intensive five-year development journey. The CRMA1 sticks closely to the brand’s identity, making extensive use of skeletonised Grade 5 titanium for both its baseplate and bridges. Beyond the challenge of developing its own calibre, Richard Mille also created an oversized date display positioned at 12 o’clock and its now-iconic function selector at 4 o’clock. The back of the watch is equally impressive, showcasing the various components of the movement, enhanced by a rotor with an entirely new variable-geometry design. Twenty-degree involute profiles, a fast-rotating barrel, high performance, and shock resistance are inevitably part of this calibre, a duty for the brand to offer its clients the very best in technicity. The inner workings of the CRMA1 reveal a true symphony of gears and cinematic motion, a testament to the brand’s commitment to revealing, as much as possible, the intricate complexity that horological craftsmanship hides within a Mille calibre. Last but not least, the CRMA1 features a patented stem-crown mechanism integrated into the case structure. Unlike traditional systems where the crown connects directly to the movement, this architecture isolates the calibre from external stress, preventing any risk of damage or dislodgement in the event of a shock.
