Description
Dell Automation Platform uses AI agents to proactively offer scaling recommendations for compute clusters to cut costs and improve sustainability.
Scaling compute clusters doesn't have to be reactive or complex. This demo shows how Dell Automation Platform's AI recommendations make agentic ITOps cluster scaling faster, clearer, and easier to act on, helping IT teams improve resources and reduce costs without the guesswork.
WHAT YOU'LL SEE IN THIS VIDEO
The demo walks through a real cluster scaling scenario from start to finish. An admin receives an AI-generated recommendation directly in Microsoft Teams, notifying them that a vSAN cluster is over-provisioned and that removing two nodes could reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint using real-time grid data from WattTime (https://www.watttime.org).
From there, the admin moves into Dell Automation Platform, where the recommendation appears alongside other AI-generated insights. Key cluster metrics and detailed node data are available to validate the suggestion, and two nodes are preselected for removal based on usage data. The admin stays in control and can adjust the selection at any time.
A FULLY GUIDED EXPERIENCE
The platform is config-driven and built on generative UI, so the admin can ask questions and get deeper insights without leaving the workflow. Once credentials and the associated system are selected, the platform generates a detailed execution plan showing exactly what will change and how the cluster will be affected.
After reviewing and confirming the plan, the platform handles the execution automatically. Once complete, a summary confirms that the two nodes were successfully removed and returned to the available resource pool, ready to be reassigned or used to build a new cluster when needed.
WHY IT MATTERS
This brings together observability, management, and automation in one place. AI-driven cluster scaling recommendations surface directly in the tools IT teams already use, including Teams, Slack, and Outlook, so nothing gets missed. The result: fewer manual steps, faster decisions, and real resource savings.
Dell Automation Platform helps IT teams turn AI insights into action, proactively and without the complexity.
