Christine Oughtred is a PhD candidate in Deakin’s School of Education, exploring how children experience stories in interactive digital forms. Her research investigates what makes digital picture books, augmented reality and virtual reality stories engaging and transformative for young readers, drawing on insights from creators and children themselves. Her work aims to support teachers, librarians and the publishing industry to thoughtfully integrate immersive digital storytelling alongside traditional print books.
