BC Preparing for Last Time Change

British Columbians will move their clocks one last time this spring. BC Premier David Eby announced last Monday that the upcoming daylight saving time change on March 8 will be the final seasonal clock change for the province, as B.C. prepares to move to permanent Pacific Time. The announcement comes 11 years after an advocacy movement called STOP the Time Change was launched in Kamloops by Tara Holmes and Bob Dieno. Since 2015, the group has gathered petitions, built public support, and met with government officials to push for an end to the twice-yearly clock changes. The effort helped lead to legislation introduced by former Premier John Horgan in 2019.  At the time, the province said it would wait for coordination with neighbouring jurisdictions in the United States before making the final transition. The decision has sparked widespread discussion across the province, with many residents sharing their views on the long-debated issue of daylight saving time.
