AI Anthropomorphism

AI anthropomorphism is the psychological and design phenomenon of attributing human-like characteristics, emotions, intentions, and consciousness to non-human artificial intelligence systems. It is driven both by human cognitive tendencies and by intentional design choices, such as giving AI conversational voices or using first-person pronouns. AI doesn't hallucinate, it has stochastic errors. AI is not really manipulated. It is takenover, just like hackers "takeover software systems." Manipulation and hallucations are generally terms we use for things humans do to one another or experience. When we anthropomorphize AIs, we create opportunities for increased misunderstanding and confusion about them, especially amongst people who are new to the field.
