My Senior Dog Had an Abscessed Tooth (Symptoms & Treatment)

We had a big scare with our senior Siberian Husky, Memphis. We initially thought she just bumped her face on the table, but when the swelling didn't go down, we knew something else was wrong. Our vet confirmed it was a severe abscessed tooth, and she needed emergency dental surgery to have it extracted. It's always so hard seeing our senior dogs go under anesthesia. We're sharing the full, emotional story of her procedure and recovery, including the surprising details our vet discovered about how long she'd been hiding her pain. Life is short, make memories with your dogs! Memphis's Dental Treatment & Recovery Plan Procedure: Full dental cleaning and surgical extraction of the abscessed upper back molar. Medication: A 23-day round of antibiotics (must be completed). Medication: Minimized painkillers (due to liver levels) for the first few days. Diet: Soft food only for two weeks to allow the extraction site to heal.
