Description

Join me on another fossil-hunting adventure as I set out to reach a remote beach several hours away on foot. The journey takes an unexpected turn when I discover a remarkable concentration of fossil whale bones weathering from the cliffs. The bones are exceptionally well preserved, and among them is an exciting section of whale skull. The surprises don't stop there. While exploring a small depression in the cliff face, I spot several rare fossil shark teeth belonging to the deep-water kitefin shark, Dalatias. Curious to see what else might be hidden, I collect some of the surrounding sediment and sift through it, uncovering even more fossil teeth. This site clearly has plenty more secrets to reveal and deserves a much closer investigation. And bonus, I found another float!! This will come in handy in the future when I use it to make a pontoon. Come along as we explore New Zealand's ancient past, uncover incredible marine fossils, and see what treasures nature has hidden for millions of years. #Fossils #FossilHunting #SharkTeeth #WhaleFossils #Paleontology #NewZealand #Dalatias #NatureAdventure #Geology #MamlamboFossils
