Thousands of candidates heading to Bihar Police Prohibition Department recruitment exams staged massive protests at Patliputra Railway Station in Patna, alleging inadequate train services and severe delays. The situation escalated when overcrowding around an exam special train triggered track blockades, vandalism, and stone-pelting, disrupting rail traffic for hours. Police intervened with tear gas, baton charges, and warning shots to restore order. Several officers, including a senior police official, suffered minor injuries. Authorities have filed cases against hundreds of people and detained several students. In response, Indian Railways announced 16 special trains to ensure smoother travel for exam candidates.
