RED ALERT ! Two powerful earthquakes hit northern Venezuela: a M7.5 near Yumare and a M7.2 near San Felipe, close to Morón, Montalbán, Valencia, Caracas, Yaracuy, Carabobo, Puerto Cabello, Maracay, Barquisimeto, and the Caribbean coast. The quakes struck near the Boconó Fault system, including the Cabudare–Morón / Yaracuy section, and the wider Boconó–San Sebastián–El Pilar fault zone, part of the Caribbean Plate–South American Plate boundary. Strong shaking, collapsed buildings, aftershocks, landslide risk, and tsunami alerts are being reported as damage assessments continue.
