Description
Hello everyone.
My sister and I had set off for a short vacation together. But unexpectedly, that vacation turned into a small cat rescue mission.
We are currently on one of the westernmost islands of Türkiye. The island has a beautiful town center, surrounded by small villages and scattered settlements. One day, while returning from the beach, my sister noticed a fountain by the side of the road. We decided to stop for a moment to wash our hands and cool off.
That’s when we noticed a few cats living around the fountain.
They all looked extremely thin and obviously hungry. Fortunately, we always keep cat food in our car, so we immediately started feeding them. But what really caught our attention was something else.
This place was miles away from any settlement.
There were no houses, no businesses, and very few people passing through. How were these cats surviving here? Where were they finding food? What happened when they got sick? We couldn’t stop asking ourselves these questions.
As we observed them more closely, we realized that one of the cats seemed healthy, while the other two appeared to be sick. They showed clear signs of infection, especially around the mouth and respiratory system.
After feeding them, we left—but neither of us could stop thinking about them. Eventually, we came up with a plan.
We decided to find a carrier and move the healthy cat to a more populated area where people could regularly feed him and where veterinary care would be much more accessible.
For the sick cats, we hoped to obtain antibiotics. We still had four days left on the island, which would give us enough time to feed them, provide treatment, and hopefully improve their condition before deciding on the next step.
We chose to help the black cat first because he was both healthy and incredibly friendly. He seemed comfortable around people, and we thought he would be the easiest to place into a carrier.
So we headed into town and started looking for a carrier. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find one anywhere.
As a last resort, we visited the island’s only veterinarian.
After hearing our story, he did something truly remarkable.
Instead of selling us a carrier, he lent us one. He also prescribed antibiotics for the sick cats. And when we discovered that the pharmacy was closed, he personally called the pharmacist and arranged for it to open just for us.
At that moment, I realized something:
Some people simply do their jobs, while others seem to be here to make the world a better place. The veterinarian we met that day definitely belonged to the second group.
We then returned to the fountain area. Using a little wet food as encouragement, we managed to get the black cat into the carrier much more easily than we expected.
From there, we drove him to the town center.
We released him in a safe area near the veterinary clinic, where people regularly pass by, and we left plenty of food for him.
Given the circumstances, we truly believe this was the best decision we could make for him. At the very least, he was no longer isolated and now had access to people, food, and help if he ever needed it.
Originally, I started filming this as a short vertical video because I thought it would be a simple story.
Clearly, I was wrong.
Things developed in ways I never expected, and what began as a short clip turned into a much longer and more emotional journey.
But the story doesn’t end here.
We’ve been visiting the black cat every day, and we’re still doing everything we can for the other two cats.
In Part 2, I’ll share what happened next—the condition of the sick cats, the progress of the black cat, and how this unexpected rescue mission continued.
See you in Part 2.
And thank you for following the journey. 🐾❤️
