I went on a cacao journey… and found my ancestral roots. I traveled to Tabasco, Mexico — on Mayan land — expecting a peaceful retreat, a little reset, a moment to breathe. Instead, this journey opened a door I didn’t even know I needed to walk through. Surrounded by people deeply connected to their lineage, I began exploring my own roots. Even though I was born in Michoacán and always knew I was Purépecha… I never truly understood what that meant until now. During the integration of this trip — the quiet after the experience — I learned that the Purépecha were a powerful, innovative, warrior people. The only empire the Aztecs could not defeat. And something in me recognized that. Like remembering something ancient inside my body. This trip to Villahermosa wasn’t just about cacao. It became a journey of identity, ancestry, healing, and coming home to myself.
