Very heavy 571 tonne transport with 248 wheels gets a police escort for Wind Farm Project

A 272 tonne transformer is suspended between two trailers as it is transported through Norfolk, in a combination totalling 571 tonnes. The oversized load prompts multiple roads to be closed by police with street furniture removed. Watch as it navigates tight corners, narrow roadworks, small roundabouts, and passes under several bridges. Allelys transported the second in a series of nine super-grid transformers cradled within their Goldhofer Faktor 5.5 girder frame trailer. The tractor-trailer combination was pulled/pushed by two MAN TGX tractor units (with a spare for extra power if needed). The combination totalled 82 metres in length, 5.25m in width, and had a gross weight of 571 tonnes. While the load itself weighed 272 tonnes. The abnormal load arrived at the Hornsea Converter Station near Norwich on Sunday, 25th January to support the wider Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm Project being built in the North Sea.
