Osman's family escaped civil war in Somalia by boat. While escaping, the ocean was too much for the boat they were in and caused it to overturn, tossing Osman and his family into the water. Tragically, Osman's brother drowned in the incident. While Osman's story is wrought with difficulties, despair, and tragedy, God ultimately redeemed all of those things. He grew up as a Muslim in Somalia, escaped civil war, and found his way to the United States in search of peace.
