Dr. Tatiana rolls two identical cookie cans of the same mass down a ramp from the same height, but one clearly wins the race. Why? Both cans have the same number of magnets, but in one they are placed at the center. In the other, they are arranged near the rim, giving the second can a larger moment of inertia. As the second can goes down, a larger fraction of its original potential energy goes into rotational kinetic energy, and a smaller fraction goes into the kinetic energy of downhill motion.
