Description

This orange and white cat's name was Dirt, and he always looked like he'd been working on a locomotive all day, covered in coal dust. He spent his entire life at the historic Northern Railway Museum in Nevada. Dirt quickly became famous after the museum posted a photo of him on Facebook in 2018. Tourists from around the world came to the museum not only to admire old trains and cars and hear railroad stories, but also to meet the famous cat. Dirt enjoyed his celebrity status; he loved the attention. He was happy to pose for pictures, rub up against visitors' legs and let them pet him. Dirt crossed the Rainbow Bridge in January 2023 at the ripe old age of 15, surrounded by his railroad family. In memory of their unofficial furry employee, the museum created a life-size bronze statue and headstone. Rest in peace dear Dirt, you will always be in our memories.
