Our off-grid barn-style home: we have very mild winters here in Northland, New Zealand (no snow, barely any frosts!), so planning for our Homewood to be a central part of our lives across all seasons, we designed with summer use in mind! High ceilings, and big windows to take away the unwanted heat. Solar and stove complement each other wonderfully: summer, when we're running the stove a lot less, the solar is at peak production, then in winter when solar producing the least, the stove is running all the time, taking care of the most energy-intensive tasks: warming the home, cooking and heating all our hot water 🧡🔥
